Happy St. Nicholas Day.  (I know that’s about 28 minutes too late…)

Today, The Classic Tales Podcast releases the first of a three-part installment of Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol.  Throughout the next three weeks, the Blogengamot will be posting at least once a week (hopefully more) on the portion of the story released by The Classic Tales for that week.*  This should be a bit easier and more accessible a discussion that Lovecraft was for a few reasons.  (1) It’s a bit easier to make time for a podcast, since you can listen to the audiobook in the car.  (2) The story is already quite well-known.  (3) Connections between Dickens and Rowling are a bit more obvious and evidenced than Rowling/Lovecraft.  Please download the podcast and join the discussion in the comments!

The insanity that is my current workload ends on Tuesday, and I hope to get something posted on The Golden Compass near the end of next week.  I won’t have seen the movie yet, but I did just finish the book.  Keep an eye on HP Progs, as I just did an interview with them on Wednesday.  Greg and Penny are great, and I highly recommend their podcast!  I had a lot of fun talking to them, and I hope to get them on the pubcast soon and to join them in the near future again.

John Granger comments on a Lev Grossman interview with Philip Pullman.

*This is not a discussion that is sponsored by The Classic Tales.  I doubt B.J. Harrison is even aware our little blog exists.
